The Sentence

A brilliant neurosurgeon who recently left Lewiston for a position in California made a startling discovery before he went. There is, in the human language, one simple sentence that can alter the mind of every human being. Simply reading this sentence aloud, with its precise syllables and consonant combinations, can bring about great change. Radical Islamist will abruptly abandon the latest Jihad. Cocaine addicts will go straight. Seasoned criminals will repent and those with suicidal tendencies will learn to embrace their lives.

The great doctor was ordered to release his findings to the Pentagon and prohibited from speaking about this wondrous discovery. But he shared it with me before his departure and I have included the sentence somewhere upon this page.
